Both alluring and elusive, Australia’s grid-scale battery market today has plenty of enthusiasm but little certainty.
While a select few companies are reaping the rewards of going big and early, the risk profile for most remains insurmountable. Australia’s recent energy market volatility no doubt holds promise for arbitrage infrastructure like batteries, but the ground beneath the proposition is hardly stable with long term, secure contracts far and few between.
As David Scaysbrook, cofounder of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners, one of Australia’s biggest renewable investors, put it recently: “Lots of announcements about batteries, not many cheques being cut.”
So how should developers be designing with batteries?
In this pv magazine Webinar, speakers from software company RatedPower will share insights on how its design and engineering platform pvDesign is being used, having recently been expanded to include AC-coupled battery storage systems.
What goes into making a bankable battery project? How does Australia’s market compare with the rest of the world? And what can we learn from real projects? These questions and more will be discussed by RatedPower’s Account Executive for Oceania and Southeast Asia, Laura Rodriguez, and her colleague, engineer Irene Negro.
