Residential battery energy storage systems: Use cases and best practices for sizing

View Webinar Video

In this pv magazine Webinar, we’ll be joined by experts from GoodWe to learn what to consider when defining the different use cases for residential BESS and how to estimate the right system size. We’ll look at how to identify customer load profiles, shed light on the difference between back-up power options, and understand the options for charging batteries from different sources. In addition, we’ll discuss power versus capacity in battery storage systems, and the importance of each, as well as what to consider when selecting technology components, and much more.

Residential battery energy storage systems: Use cases and best practices for sizing

When deciding on a battery energy storage system (BESS), homeowners are usually motivated by two factors. One is maximizing consumption of self-generated solar power as the optimal way of putting downward pressure on electricity bills. The other one is energy independence and the ability to manage off the power grid in an emergency.

Regardless of the reason behind the decision to install the BESS, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. What is more, common misconceptions that installers are dealing with and potential pitfalls in sizing according to the unique energy needs of a home are numerous.

Representing GoodWe USA, Jock Patterson, technical sales, and Michael Mendik, country manager U.S. and Canada, will be joining us for discussion and insights.
