Using multiple actuation motors on a single tracker row can have quite an impact on an installation’s overall performance, claims tracker manufacturer TrinaTracker. Single-axis tracking in a two-in-portrait configuration undoubtedly provide yield gains for a solar asset. Deploying this type of plant setup, however, comes with some significant challenges: terrain adaption, long installation time, and higher O&M costs, to name but a few.
TrinaTracker, the tracker smart solution provider spun out of module manufacturer TrinaSolar, suggests they have tackled these issues with their latest product update, the Vanguard 2P. One of the more apparent design changes compared to the Vanguard’s predecessor is the use of multiple motors on one tracker row. The engineers claim, the solution will withstand higher wind loads and reduce tilt angle misalignment.
In this pv magazine Webinar, TrinaTracker’s head of the structural R&D team, Felix Sabando, will discuss the challenges for EPCs and developers wanting to get their feet wet in single-axis tracker projects. He looks back on 15 years of experience in the field and will show how the company has tackled these issues in its latest product and tell us in greater detail how some of the new technology features work.
Joining him also from TrinaTracker is Abel Córdoba. He is an R&D engineer in the electronics department of the company. And he, too, can draw from two decades of experience in electrical engineering and will go into greater detail about the advantages in monitoring and subsequent lower O&M costs of Trina’s new tracker.
Alberto Muñoz, key account manager at CERE the Spanish-based certification body and testing laboratory, will highlight the challenges of any product certification process, focusing on the main tests’ procedures of the international standard for solar trackers IEC 62817.
