Trina Solar will supply 1,133,550 72-cell PD12 multicrystalline modules to the project that is owned and operated by Sempra U.S. Gas & Power. The modules are expected to be shipped out in the fourth quarter of this year. The Copper Mountain Solar 3 is being constructed by AMEC and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2015.

"The selection of Trina Solar for this record-breaking project is a strong endorsement of our capabilities in meeting the evolving demands of our customers in a maturing market," said Mark Mendenhall, President of Trina Solar Americas. "We look forward to completing this project and powering tens of thousands of homes with clean, reliable solar power."

The Copper Mountain Solar 3 project is set to produce renewable energy for about 80,000 homes. The electricity generated will be sold to Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and the City of Burbank under a 20-year contract with the Southern California Public Power Authority. Copper Mountain Solar 3 is the third project of the Copper Mountain projects being undertaken in Boulder City. Copper Mountain Solar 1 and 2 have 58 MW and 150 MW respectively with the former already completed in December 2010. The latter already has 92 MW complete with another 58 MW expecting completion in 2015.
