Indian solar module component manufacturer RenewSys India Pvt. Ltd (RIPL) has this week placed an order with a "reputed European manufacturer" for the delivery of a 100 MW solar cell line.

According to the RIPL press release, the new line will be delivered in the second quarter of 2016, with a second 100 MW solar cell line order to be placed for Q3 with the same supplier.

Receipt of the first line will expand RIPL’s cell making capacity to 130 MW, and the company is aiming to gradually increase its production capacity to 500 MW at its Hyderabad site.

Furthermore, RIPL is also set to expand its 80 MW module making capacity at the 50 acre fab in order to meet the requirements of OEM customers and also to expand its exports.

There are also capacity expansion plans in the pipeline for RIPL’s EVA Encapsulant and backsheet production capabilities at the company’s Bengaluru facility.

RIPL confirmed that the company is ramping up its production capabilities to meet growing domestic demand for Indian-produced components, which forms part of the domestic content requirements (DCR) outlined in India’s National Solar Mission, which has targeted the installation of 100 GW of solar PV capacity by 2022.
