Pay-as-you-go solar startup receives $5m from EU

Engie secures financing for 60 MW of solar in Senegal

A €38 million loan will be provided by Proparco, the International Finance Corporation and the European Investment Bank. A PV plant in Tauba will sell power for €0.0380/kWh and a second facility in Kahone which will sell electricity for €0.0398.

Africa: UK announces £56 million for battery storage, support for solar

Engie wins Senegal’s 60 MW PV tender with bids under €0.040/kWh

The French energy giant will now build a solar PV power plant in Tauba, central Senegal, which will sell power at €0.0380 per kWh, while a second plant selling electricity at €0.0398 per kWh will be constructed in Kahone.

Senegal commissions another 30 MW solar park

The Ten Merina solar facility was built by Engie’s subsidiary, Solairedirect. The project was financed by French investment firm, Meridiam and Proparco.

Senegal issues 100 MW solar tender

Senegalese government issues open tender for solar projects with a combined storage capacity of 100 MW in the Diourbel, Kaoack, and Fatick regions of the country.

Senegal’s first solar park comes online

A 30 MW solar plant in Santhiou Mékhé was officially inaugurated by the country’s president Macky Sall. The facility was built by Solairedirect and financed by French investors.
