The UK Northern Lighthouse Board is seeking a supplier to annually provide up to 800 solar modules for four years. The modules will be installed at unmanned stations, vessels, and buoys off the UK coast. The application deadline is April 8, 2025.
A photovoltaic system on the roof of a warehouse caught fire in the northern German town of Norden, triggering a large-scale operation by the volunteer fire department that lasted for hours and involved the use of two water cannons on Monday. On the same day, in Erftstadt, near Cologne, a garage in the area of a PV system caught fire, according to the local fire department.
The aim of the European Energy Storage Inventory is to record all European energy storage projects by status – in operation, planned and under construction -, by location and by technology. Most projects have been recorded in Germany so far.
A team led by University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) has found that pyrrodiazole as an additive in formamidinium iodide (FAI)-based inverted perovskite solar enables larger area devices made with industry-compatible slot die coating. Modules made using the technology achieved 20.3% certified power conversion efficiency and retained 94% of initial efficiency after 1,000 h in standard testing.
Blackhillock in Scotland is not only Europe’s biggest operating battery storage project. It is also the first one to provide a special set of grid stabilization services, procured under the electricity system operator’s Pathfinder 2, while also generating revenues from other critical services.
In this pv magazine Webinar we will explore key market trends for C&I energy storage, including intelligent energy management systems, new revenue opportunities in aggregation, safety performance and the differences between liquid and air-cooling systems. We’ll also hear how GoodWe has expanded its C&I offer through its building-integrated PV (BIPV) product Galaxy.
Plug Power reported an almost 6-fold increase in electrolyzer revenues in 2024, despite the financial troubles. Meanwhile, Finland’s first large-scale plant goes into operation.
Karl-Heinz Remmers examines Pakistan’s startling growth in solar energy use, which could serve as an inspiration not only for developing countries but also for Germany and the EU.
Leag’s prestige project on the Ostsee lake in Cottbus is in trouble: storms and waves have washed pontoons onto the shore and several solar modules have come loose from their fastenings. A salvage operation is underway and trouble is brewing even before the large photovoltaic system is put into operation.
The new Clean Industrial Deal provides a “specific boost” for European solar manufacturing, but a lack of financing and storage to support grids will continue to hold back deployment unless addressed.
