WECO cooperates with Hora eTec: PCB terminals for stable heat pumps

Share

Hora eTec GmbH, based in Bünde in Westphalia, has been an expert in electrical connection technology since 1919 and operates worldwide as a supplier to the electrical industry in the field of power connection technology and distribution. The company specializes in the areas of energy input and distribution in low-voltage technology and produces both standard parts for electrical connection technology and customer-specific electromechanical components made of non-ferrous (NF) metals.

Certified and robust PCB terminal blocks for high voltage

WECO Contact uses Hora eTec's high-quality brass terminal bodies for its 158 / 159 series PCB terminal blocks, which are characterized by high voltages and large currents. A characteristic feature of these series is the terminal compartment, which can accommodate rigid conductors up to 16 mm² or flexible conductors up to 10 mm². Two solder pins per pole ensure a secure connection to the PCB. Series 158, with a pitch of 10.16 mm (Series 159 with 12.7 mm), are available in low and high versions and are suitable for voltages up to 690 volts (Series 159 up to 1,000 volts). Unrestricted UL approvals (UL1059) for industrial use of terminals and connectors for 300 volts (Series 159 for 600 volts) facilitate equipment approval. According to WECO, this series was developed specifically for power electronics and is used in drive technology with frequency converters, especially in heat pumps.

Heat pump drive

A heat pump is based on a similar technology as a refrigerator or an air conditioner. It uses ambient air, geothermal energy stored in the ground, water sources, or waste heat from a factory as a heat source. The heat pump extracts heat from this source and amplifies it, then transfers it to where it is needed. The heat pump consists of a compressor that moves a refrigerant through a refrigeration circuit and a heat exchanger that absorbs heat from the source. The 158 / 159 series terminals regulate the control and power switching of the individual components and, due to their robustness, ensure fail-safety and stability of the heat pump used.
