Viridian Solar today announces its ‘Fusion Forest' programme, an initiative aimed at reducing carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere while restoring natural forest ecosystems. For every Clearline fusion solar PV panel purchased by a customer after the start date of July 1st, 2020 the company will plant a tree.
A partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects will see native trees planted in Nepal, Mozambique, Haiti, Madagascar and Indonesia, while closer to home the company has teamed up with Trees for Life, a charity based in Findhorn working to restore the Caledonian Forest.
To mark the launch of the scheme, three native silver birch trees (Betula Pendula) were planted at Viridian Solar's HQ near Cambridge. Pictured are (left to right) Bruce Hill, Operations Director, KT Tan, Chief Technical Officer, and Jamie Berryman, Sales Director.
Stuart Elmes, CEO at Viridian Solar explains:
” It's great to be working together with fantastic charities doing such important and urgent work. Done well, reforestation can improve habitats for wildlife, prevent soil erosion, and reduce poverty as well as locking away carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. We are really looking forward to seeing how customers respond to this simple and powerful proposition. From a home owner installing fourteen solar panels on their house, to a housebuilding company specifying solar PV for thousands of new homes each year, we hope that the opportunity to double down on the environmental benefits of solar will be really appealing to customers of all sizes. ”
