The Solar Stewardship Initiative (SSI) has officially confirmed that JA Solar’s supply chain management meets SSI’s responsible sourcing principles, following an independent investigation from 16 to 24 January 2025. This decision follows a temporary suspension of JA Solar’s membership in January 2025, after the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) placed Donghai JA Solar Technology Co., Ltd. (JA Solar Donghai) on the UFLPA Entity List.
The investigation was initiated to assess whether JA Solar’s supply chain practices aligned with SSI’s responsible sourcing principles. According to SSI’s findings:
- The investigation confirmed that JA Solar fully complies with SSI's responsible sourcing principles, with no evidence of any violation.
- JA Solar Donghai already ceased production in 2018 and neither treatment of materials nor any kind of manufacturing activity has been taking place since then.
Furthermore, SSI noted that DHS did not provide any evidence proving that JA Solar violated responsible sourcing principles. This reinforces JA Solar’s position that it operates in full compliance with global supply chain integrity standards.
“At JA Solar, we have always been committed to maintaining a responsible and transparent supply chain,” said Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar. “The conclusion of SSI’s review reaffirms our dedication to ethical sourcing and regulatory compliance. We will continue to work with industry partners to uphold the highest standards in supply chain traceability and responsible procurement.”
The reinstatement of JA Solar’s SSI membership reaffirms its compliance with responsible sourcing requirements, providing assurance to customers, investors, and industry partners. As the global solar industry expands, ensuring ethical and transparent supply chains remains a key priority, and JA Solar continues to contribute to this effort by setting high industry standards.
