The South African solar market is experiencing significant growth, driven by a rising demand for reliable and efficient energy solutions. South Africa’s healthy development pipeline suggests that the country is on track to increase its solar capacity significantly, with SAPVIA forecasting approximately 2.5 GW to 3 GW of new solar capacity this year, and a projected 3.5 GW to 4 GW by 2026 (source: PV Magazine, 20 January 2025). This surge in capacity highlights the growing need for robust solar solutions across the market.

EPD-Certified Inverter Solutions for a Sustainable Future

As part of this expansion, a range of Environmental Product Declaration (EPD)-certified inverters has been introduced for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar applications. The certification, verified by EPD International, applies to three key inverter series: the ASW LT-G3 series (25-40kW), the ASW LT-G3 series (45-60kW), and the ASW LT series (75-110kW). These certifications are based on a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that evaluates environmental impact from raw material extraction to manufacturing and beyond. With sustainability regulations playing an increasingly significant role in solar project approvals, certified inverters support businesses and municipalities in meeting regulatory and environmental standards. In addition to these offerings, Solplanet has introduced the ASW 250-360K HT Series inverter to the South African market, specifically designed for utility-scale solar projects. Featuring an IP66-rated enclosure, the inverter is built to withstand the region’s hot and dusty conditions,

making it a suitable choice for large-scale solar installations in South Africa.
