Full-service business law firm Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP has hired solar industry and real estate attorney Chris Delp to build on the firm’s established solar track record, which began with the rise of U.S. solar panel manufacturing.

Delp has played an active role in renewable energy construction projects – from the earliest stages of feasibility and development through final completion. He has provided guidance to project developers in Florida and across the U.S. and Latin America.

“Chris is a great addition to Shumaker,” said Julio C. Esquivel, a corporate attorney and the managing partner of Shumaker’s Tampa office. “He brings a unique skill set and broad experience that will further empower us to serve our clients in this emerging and exciting industry.”

Immediately before joining Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, Delp served as in-house corporate counsel for a renewable energy manufacturing and construction company. In addition to representing the company’s legal interests, he also participated in business development.

“Chris has become known in the solar industry, especially in the Florida market, as a source for understanding regulatory developments and monitoring market trends,” said Timothy M. Hughes, a real estate partner in Shumaker’s Tampa office. “Given the recent change in cost dynamics making solar energy production more feasible, Florida is poised to create numerous opportunities presented by its sunny climate. As this market opens up, Shumaker is enhancing its solar industry capabilities, in part by bringing on Chris, to better serve and develop a client base seeking to participate in Florida’s growing solar energy landscape.”

Delp earned his law degree from Stetson University College of Law, where he served as the marketing editor of the Stetson Law Review.

“My relationship with Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick began when I entered the solar sector,” said Delp. “When I saw the quality of Shumaker’s work and level of sophistication on a variety of matters, it made sense to join the firm and offer legal services custom tailored to investors, lenders, developers, contractors and manufacturers within the solar industry.”
