Ecoppia, the world-leading developer of fully autonomous, water-free photovoltaic solar panel cleaning solutions, announced the deployment of hundreds of its automated systems in the 120MW Ze'elim photovoltaic facility, owned by Shikun & Binui Energy.
Located in the Negev desert, the Ze'elim site suffers from massive soiling rates and frequent sandstorms. This makes traditional labor-intensive, water-based cleaning solutions neither cost-effective nor timely – since immediate recovery from sandstorms is mission-critical to maintain facility LCOE, yet existing solutions can take up to two weeks in a site this scale.
Shikun & Binui Energy is expected to save over 150 million of liters of water and reduce its operating expenses drastically with the deployment of Ecoppia across its site.
“Shikun & Binui Energy has ambitious plans for solar in the Middle East and globally. Our project in Zeelim is the largest PV project built in Israel, for which we chose the advanced Ecoppia Solution” said Jean Scemama , CEO of Shikun & Binui Energy. “Ecoppia was chosen based on its unparalleled experience in this challenging geography, as well as their proven results and strong commitment to success – which we recognized in our previous joint project,” he concluded.
