Race Heats Up Does Not Challenge JinkoSolar’s Dominance

Renowned for its high yields and reliability, JinkoSolar is capturing an increasing share of orders. According to financial reports released, JinkoSolar shipped 43.8GW of panels in the first half of the year, representing a 46% YoY growth, widening the gap over the second player, making it the only company to have a half-year shipment surpassing 40GW.

Competitors like Trina, JA, Longi, and Sunrise, are stepping up efforts to close the gap with JinkoSolar. Their strategies include rolling out BC or HJT processes, slashing prices, launching super big-size modules, etc. On the contrary, JinkoSolar is focusing on constant TOPCon efficiency enhancement by 0.5% annually, and performance by lowering temperature coefficient and degradation as its competitive advantages. Recently, JinkoSolar recently disclosed its next paths towards 28% TOPCon cell, which is crucial for processes over 26.5% cell. The approaches include but are not limited to front-side passivation, edge passivation, optimized metallization and screen print, light trap technology in order to lock more sunlight drawn on the cell, etc. These processes will further improve light-gathering and light-electricity-transforming capabilities, allowing for more electricity generation than other technologies.

Meanwhile, JinkoSolar has been promoting its liquid cooling energy storage system SunGiga for C&I and SunTera G2 for a utility-scale project, which streamlines the entire “turkey” service process from solar to, solar plus energy storage. JinkoSolar has 35 international subsidiaries and over 230 service outlets, and it is currently operating in 190 countries and it has delivered close to 300 GW installed.

An industry insider noted, “With the recent solar plus storage boom, it’s crucial for developers to have received a fast response and localized service, and JinkoSolar is capitalizing on this demand.”

Regarding digitalized and globalized production, JinkoSolar adopted the latest equipment ahead of its competitors, which will dramatically cut delivery times by fully automating its TOPCon production line using robots and AI. This automation spans from the front-end processes of wafer-cell-module manufacturing to the back-end processes of packaging and testing.

The Saudi Arabia factory, a milestone of JinkoSolar’s global footprint, is expected to complete construction by the end of 2025 and start sample production in early 2026, with full-scale mass production expected by Q4 2026.

Despite recent challenges and large-scale industry cycles, JinkoSolar is strengthening its technological capabilities and operation sustainability. It reported a net profit of 1.2 billion RMB during the first half of this year.
