Q-Cells technical and sales staff informed interested PV players about its latest product innovations, ranging from solar cells to solar modules featuring Q.PRO (multicrystalline), Q.PEAK (monocrystalline) and Q.SMART (thin-film) modules, up to innovative solar system applications. The showcase also gave an insight into the history of Q-Cells and its development in the Malaysian market. More than 100 participants from the Malaysian photovoltaic (PV) industry attended the event. Deputy Minister of Trade YB Dato Mukhriz Tun Dr. Mahathir officially opened the ceremony.

As part of the event, Q-Cells officially launched a new test-field that it has established in the past weeks. It comprises various Q-Cells solar technologies with an overall capacity of up to 18 kWp and locates right next to the production facility.

"We are very proud to manufacture products and systems, developed and engineered with world-acclaimed German technology in Malaysia. This allows us to have trusted and high-quality products from our own source available for our growing circle of clients in Malaysia and the Asian Pacific region," said Managing Director of Q-Cells Malaysia, Franz Vollmann.

Malaysia, with its abundance in sunlight, is in an excellent position to make photovoltaic a very viable form of generating energy. With the recent implementation of the Feed-in-tariff (FIT) Program for renewable energies in Malaysia, which has started in December 2011, Q-Cells expects to see a real surge in PV installations in the local market. With its production site in Malaysia, now also transforming into a sales hub for the Asian Pacific region, Q-Cells is in an ideal position, to serve the growing potential of the Malaysian market and the overall region. With production and distribution facilities in Malaysia, Q-Cells is be able to grant short delivery times, provide technical support to its clients on short notice and reduce transportation costs.

Being a technological leader of the global PV industry, Q-Cells SE puts tremendous efforts into continuous Research & Development at both its sites, Germany and Malaysia. The newly established Q-Cells test-field in Malaysia focuses on gathering performance data of different solar technologies, from solar irradiation to ambient and module temperature. Q-Cells will thereby demonstrate that its solar cells, modules and systems perform outstandingly in the tropical climate of the Asian Pacific region.

"Independent tests have shown that Q-Cells products are leading in performance also in hot and tropical regions," said Franz Vollmann. "Technological advancement is an on-going process that we aim to continuously drive to a next level, e.g. by having our own testing facility in Malaysia," he added.
