Speaking to newsmen, Kune Igoni, the Director of Events in West Africa Exhibitions & Conferences, organizers of the Trade Show, said, the Event which is expected to have the participation of Nigerias Ministries of Power and Mines & Steel Development together with other governmental agencies of West African States is also to be declared open by the Nigerian President, Goodluck E. Jonathan and will have in attendance, over 3,000 international conference delegates, exhibitors and visitors from across the globe, mostly from the G-8 countries.
According to the Event Director, who was a Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State, during Goodluck Jonathans Administration, the forum will also bring together senior government personnel, industry decision makers and other key sector players to discuss and synergize on opportunities in the Power and Steel sector.
Igoni, quoting research findings on Iron and Steel industry in Nigeria, said the provision of adequate and dependable supply of quality electric power and other sources of energy (e.g. Gas and coke) is an important parameter in the operation and competitiveness of any steel plant. Furthermore, the availability of low cost reliable power is necessary for the development of the downstream industries and the economy in general.
Adding that, the conference segments will have strong resource representations with discussions on new technologies, Equipments and Potentials, with a view to unlock the Nigerian and West African economy to investment in the Power and Steel sector. While International Exhibitors will be on ground to exhibit and showcase equipments and technologies on Solar Energy, Bio Energy, Windmill and Gas Lines building as well as Steel finished products such as Automotive Parts, Pressure Tubes, Pipes, Farm Machineries and other appliances.
Igoni disclosed that, the event will also encourage the fostering of partnership of all key players to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of infrastructures and services through competition, responsiveness to opportunities and service delivery. He therefore calls on all Stakeholders to take advantage of this unique forum to participate fully in the event.
