One Block Off the Grid (1BOG) has announced a new San Francisco solar program. Designed to reduce the cost and confusion traditionally associated with buying solar, homeowners who join the 1BOG group are eligible for a fixed discount rate, impartial advice and tools to support the solar buying process.

The Canadian pilot project of operator Arntjen Solar, the SunSaver Solar Farm 1 in Innerkip, Ontario, has come second in the coveted Canadian “Agricultural Award of Excellence”. The farm is fitted with MLD (Maximum Light Detection) tracking systems from the German manufacturer DEGERenergie.

GCube Insurance Services, Inc., insurer of renewable energy technologies, has announced that John McLane has joined the company as senior vice president. Mr. McLane will be responsible for growing GCube’s renewable energy business held by utilities and independent power producers.

Trina Solar Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to become a member of its Industrial liaison Program (ILP), a program devoted to promoting university-industry collaboration and technology transfer.
