More than 2,100 state-of-the-art panels
This photovoltaic solar park, managed by the company specialized in photovoltaic solar energy POWEN, consists of more than 2,100 state-of-the-art panels with a total power of more than 1,100 kW and whose energy is used for the factory's own consumption. This installation generates almost 20% of the factory's current electrical consumption.
Likewise, although currently all the energy purchased by the plant comes from renewable sources, the entry into operation of this photovoltaic solar park would mean avoiding the emission of more than 4,100 tons of CO 2 per year into the atmosphere.
“With this new facility, Nestlé continues to support renewable energy in its factories while moving towards the decarbonization of its economic activity. With this new milestone in our progress in sustainability and the environment, we are getting closer to achieving our goal: zero net emissions in 2050 ,” said Jordi Aycart, head of Sustainability at Nestlé Spain.
Towards decarbonization
This new photovoltaic solar park joins those that Nestlé already has both in the Solís tomato sauce factory in Miajadas (Cáceres), as well as the one located in the Nestlé roasted coffee factory in Reus (Tarragona) and with which said factories have already been supplied with more than 30% of the annual electricity used, respectively. Likewise, all the electrical energy purchased at Nestlé centers in Spain also comes from renewable sources.
