LONGi has formed a new three-year partnership with UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to drive climate action, energy equity, and green transformation. The collaboration was unveiled at the Solar+ Pavilion during COP28, the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Under the partnership, LONGi will convert UNHCR emergency and preparedness storage halls into solarized facilities. The initiative will begin with a pilot project at the Regional Humanitarian Logistics Hub located at the Termez Cargo Centre in Uzbekistan. This hub plays a critical role in the rapid delivery of essential relief items to countries across the region.

LONGi provides solar systems for refugees’ public facilities and education on solar energy
In addition to solarizing the Logistics Hub, LONGi will provide solar systems and solutions to public facilities used by refugees and host communities in Pakistan, starting from 2024. This will ensure access to safe and reliable energy, enabling these communities to pursue education, work, and entrepreneurship. LONGi will also empower refugees and host communities through solar energy skills training, promoting sustainable livelihoods. These initiatives are in line with Sustainable Development Goal No. 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy.

Leveraging the cost-effectiveness of photovoltaic solutions
Recognizing the impact of energy inequality on economic development and people's lives, LONGi aims to address this issue by leveraging the cost-effectiveness of photovoltaic solutions. Technological advancements have made solar power one of the most economical sources of electricity in many parts of the world.
As part of the wider partnership, LONGi will also support reforestation activities in Uzbekistan from 2024, aiming to reduce environmental hazards and mitigate the effects of extreme weather. This initiative will also create income generation and employment opportunities for refugees and host communities. The three-year partnership is expected to benefit many of the countries where UNHCR carries out its climate action work.
