The company has plenty of surprises in store for the world's largest photovoltaics trade fair, including a number of product improvements. To summarize: PowerMax solar modules now come with an extended product warranty of ten years, positive power tolerances, an anti-reflective coating and MC4 plugs.
Extended product warranty
Avancis has implemented various innovations within its serial production of CIS solar modules. First of all Avancis has doubled the length of the product warranty for its PowerMax solar modules from five to 10 years. This shows how the company is prepared to back up its claim of being a manufacturer of premium products that offer outstanding quality.
Positive power tolerance
What's more, Avancis has come up with a new set of positive tolerances (-0/+5 Watt) for its solar modules and further reduced the gap between its performance classes. PowerMax is now available in the following categories: 110 Wp, 115 Wp, 120 Wp, 125 Wp, 130 Wp and 135 Wp. The nominal power of each respective class is assured as an absolute minimum and the positive five Wp tolerances for the nominal Power (Pnom) guarantee you receive the power you paid for or even more.
Antireflective coverglass
In addition, a new anti-reflective coating has been applied to the hardened front glass of the glass-glass module, resulting in lower light reflection and reduced glare and a 2 2.5% increase in light transmittance within the relevant wavelength range (380 1240 nm). This has a direct impact on current yield and leads to an improvement in efficiency. The average efficiency of the mass production of our CIS modules is currently around 12 percent and is constantly driven upwards, states Franz Karg, CTO of Avancis.
Record efficiencies
At the beginning of the year, the companys R&D department achieved a new record for monolithic thin film solar modules Avancis set a new world record in efficiency of 15.5 percent for a laminated and framed 30 x 30 cm² module, which has been externally verified by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of Colorado, USA.
?Last but not least, the MC3 plugs on both of the modules junction boxes have been replaced by MC4 plugs – this ensures that installation can be carried out with even greater speed and ease.
All new features are valid for modules produced from March 12, 2011 onwards starting with serial number: AVANCISXXXXXXX110312XXXX (to be found on every module).
