The 60-acre School Farm Solar Park received planning consent in December 2017. The project will be commissioned in December 2020 and begin generating enough clean, renewable energy to power the equivalent of approximately 4,000 homes.
The solar park supports Rugby Borough Council’s declaration of a climate emergency and will contribute towards its commitments to become carbon neutral by 2030. It is planned to have an operational lifetime of 40 years and will contribute to Rugby Borough Council in business rates throughout the life-span of the project.

School Farm Solar Park will generate 13MW of clean energy, saving the equivalent of 3,150 tonnes CO2. It’s only through the decarbonisation of our energy system, with projects like School Farm Solar Park, that will we transition to a green economy and combat climate change.”
This project is part of Hive Energy’s international solar technology portfolio, which has delivered over 900MW of renewable energy, with a further 1.8GW of solar in the pipeline. Subsidy-free solar is set to play an important role in the decarbonization of the GB power system. Hive Energy has recently received consent for the UK’s largest subsidy-free solar park in Kent, with Cleve Hill Solar Park (350MW).
