GenCell Energy, a leading Israel-based manufacturer of fuel cell energy solutions, today announces becoming a Silver Member of the Ammonia Energy Association (AEA), a global industry association that promotes the responsible use of ammonia in the sustainable energy economy. GenCell has developed a unique patented ammonia cracker that extracts hydrogen from liquid ammonia to drive exceptionally efficient power generation by means of GenCell’s alkaline fuel cells, enabling this ground-breaking technology to enable mainstream replacement of diesel generators.
The AEA is building out a global network of ammonia energy developers and implementers working together to define the future of sustainable energy technology and business. Through its participation in the association, GenCell will engage in global communication and collaboration among industry, academia, government, and NGOs to share and realize the benefits and use cases where GenCell’s technologies can provide value.
Recognition is growing for the role of ammonia in the sustainable energy future and increasingly companies and governments across the globe are actively considering how to best leverage the advantages of ammonia within their portfolios of clean energy technologies. GenCell has joined the AEA to not only advocate for the responsible use of ammonia in a sustainable energy economy and to identify those projects where GenCell’s technologies can contribute effectively, but also to be involved in accelerating the pace at which clean ammonia energy becomes available. As the technological readiness, political necessity, social imperative, and commercial opportunity for ammonia energy increases, so grows the need for a strong industry representation to navigate the complexities of the wider energy sector and to ensure standards and policies that will provide a stable framework in which ammonia to energy projects can be implemented and expanded to scale.
“GenCell is proud to become a part of the Ammonia Energy Association that is establishing credibility for ammonia to energy technologies across the broader global energy economy that can achieve bold decarbonization targets across regions and industry sectors.
We expect that our membership in the AEA will enable us to share our knowledge across the industry and actively participate in projects where our technologies can be leveraged most effectively,” stated Rami Reshef, CEO, GenCell.
“The Ammonia Energy Association is delighted to welcome GenCell to its membership and we look forward to working closely with its truly innovative team,” stated Trevor Brown, Executive Director, Ammonia Energy Association. “The urgency of decarbonization is increasingly clear, and GenCell’s technology for ammonia-fed fuel cells represents a near-term solution for a very hard-to-abate application: remote and back-up power, supplied today around the world by the diesel gen-set. The AEA plays a critical role in accelerating decarbonization by connecting our members, across continents and across sectors, and building the full ammonia energy value chain — in which alkaline fuel cells represent a critical link. We look forward to supporting GenCell’s efforts to scale its technologies to further contribute to the sustainable energy economy.”
