Energy yield comparison by SPIC: TOPCon vs. HJT vs. IBC

Share

This was the first national PV power and energy storage demonstration experimental platform (Daqing Base) conducted by SPIC and put into operation in 2022. SPIC has performed this empirical experiment in the real world and released the annual results to the industry for two consecutive years. The authoritative data generated provides a scientific basis and solid support for China to formulate industry policies and technical standards, and upgrade industry technology.

The experimental results have proven that the energy yield performance of TOPCon modules is the highest among the four technologies thanks to a higher bifacial rate and lower working temperature compared to PERC, HJT and IBC modules, which is 1.16% higher compared to IBC modules, 0.98% higher than HJT and 2.87% higher than PERC. The result is pretty much similar to 2022.

Secondly, TOPCon has the lowest degradation, which is 1.57%-2.51%, lower than PERC (1.54%-4.01%) and HJT (8.82%).

Thirdly, there were 165 cloudy days, 50 rainy, and 19 snowy days in 2023, TOPCon exhibited better low light performance than IBC and PERC in cloudy and morning/dusk thanks to its better response to both short and long waves.
