At the beginning of 2012, the Belgium PV market underwent some significant changes which mostly affected solar solutions providers and private investments into residential PV systems. BisolGroup, one of the leading European based manufacturers of premium quality PV modules and other solar solutions, overcame difficulties posed by the withdrawal of the fiscal investment subsidies and increased sales in Belgium by 76 percent.

Up to the end of 2011, there were three kinds of incentives for Belgian residential investors in solar power plants. The first was fiscal support, where up to 40 per ent of the PV investment could fiscally be recovered over a spread of a maximum of four years and a maximum of 3.600 euros per year. The second are Green Certificates, where, depending on the region, one or more Green Certificates is given per generated MWh of solar electricity. The last is a possibility for the investor to sell surplus electricity at the same price as he is purchasing the electricity.

As of January 2012, the fiscal support has been withdrawn in Belgium. With this cut, the payback time for residential PV system increases from approximately five years to seven years. It was generally expected the sales would drop drastically. However, Bisol Group with its local subsidiary in Leuven and with a strong network of installers and partner distributors increased sales in Belgium substantially.

All PV systems with Bisol modules in Belgium can supply electricity to 10.000 households. The most popular Bisol PV modules in Belgium are with the black frame and the black back sheet, as they give a truly aesthetically pleasing appearance to the roof. Bisol Group strives to accommodate as many investors as possible giving them the opportunity to not only choose from a variety of mono- and polycrystalline PV modules with different electrical and visual characteristics, but also from an assortment of accompanying mounting systems and other solar solutions.
