Korean Patent No. 10-1497298 was issued on February 24, 2015. It covers the Andalay Solar module frames, specifically its unique method for installing solar panels using Andalay's Instant Connect, plug-and-play wiring technology.

Some of the patented attributes of the integrated solar system identified in the Korean patent include:

• Providing an aesthetically pleasing solar system

• A module frame that substitutes for a rail that would otherwise need to have been installed on the roof

• Threaded splices that both connect the solar modules as well as provide for mechanical rigidity and electrical grounding

• Minimal amount of parts to promote easier solar installation

• Integrated wire management to enable easier and safer installations as well as minimize future electrical issues

While the majority of the Andalay systems have been sold within the United States, Andalay systems have been sold and installed in various regions around the world, including Mexico, the Caribbean, and South America. The international market presents additional opportunities for Andalay which has patents pending in various countries with key rooftop solar markets. South Korea is also where the Andalay compatible modules is expected to be produced by Hyundai Heavy Industries under license by Andalay. The new Hyundai-branded TG-Series solar modules would use 60-cell monocrystalline or polycrystalline technology (255w-280w) with a black Andalay frame.

"We are pleased to have received this patent for our integrated mounting system not only from the US, but also internationally, now from Korea. With this news, Andalay continues to be one of leaders of integrated solar power systems. We are also continuing our goal to make solar system installation easier and faster to install for everyone," said Steven Chan, President and CEO of Andalay Solar.
