Global PV inverter market shakeout and geographical shifts expected, says GTM

European photovoltaic inverter manufacturers see their profits shrink as low-cost Asian players gain ground, according to a new report released by GTM Research. Increased competition is also coming from diversified giants.

UK: Lightsource adds 133 MW of PV in Q1 2013

Lightsource Renewable Energy Ltd has completed and commissioned 34 photovoltaic projects totaling 133 MW in the first quarter of 2013.

ReneSola to supply Enerparc with modules

German photovoltaic manufacturers continue posting negative financial results, as the European market remains stagnant. Bosch’s photovoltaic business unit recorded a €1 billion loss for full-year 2012, as Aleo doubled its loss in 1Q.

SolarWorld expects losses of more than €0.5 billion

SolarWorld AG has said it expects a loss of more than half a billion euros. The German company has also reported the loss of around half its share capital.

New solar policies in India expected to increase demand; help improve margins

LDK Solar Q4 net loss tops $0.5 billion

Debt-ridden LDK Solar has recorded an enormous Q4 2012 net loss totaling over US$0.5 billion, significantly up from the $95.9 million loss seen in the previous quarter. Although the beleaguered Chinese photovoltaic manufacturer is under significant financial pressure, it forecasts Q1 2013 revenues of between $80 million to $100 million.

California: New group formed to defend net metering

A coalition of solar companies and physicians has been formed in California, to push back against utility company attempts to wind back net metering for solar customers.
