South Korean solar PV producer Hanwha Q Cells has taken receipt of a ILS-TT laser machine from InnoLas Solutions GmbH at its R&D facility in Germany.
Received in September, the laser tool from InnoLas is described as an ultrafast and precise machine that will deliver improved throughput and higher cell efficiencies at the R&D site.
Germanys InnoLas has previously supplied its ILS-TT laser machine to former company Q Cells, before its acquisition by Hanwha Solar. This latest delivery will be used to accelerate the firms drive to lower overall production costs for solar power globally.
"InnoLas is enabling us to achieve our ambitious efficiency milestones on our roadmap faster and more reliably," said Hanwha Q Cells VP R&D processes Markus Fischer. "We look forward to continue our trustworthy partnership by evaluating innovative technologies together."
In the October issue of pv magazine we take a close look at laser ablation of PERC cells.
