Germanys Mounting Systems has revealed record-breaking sales in the booming U.K. solar PV market for 2014, shipping 204 MW of racking and mounting systems across both the on-roof and ground-mount segments.
Owned by Nordwest Industrie Group (NWI), Mounting Systems achieved a ten-fold sales increase in the U.K. market between 2013 and 2014, shipping enough racking solutions to deliver solar power solutions to 55,000 U.K. households.
The companys on-roof systems segment grew by 120% year-on-year, while sales to the ground-mount sector were up fifteen-fold, with 1,500% growth recorded.
"Large amounts of capital flowed to big solar farm developments last year, and there was pressure on developers to complete projects quickly," said Mounting Systems MD Stefan Spork. This meant Mounting Systems lightweight aluminum frames were attractive as they are quick to assemble.
"We also grew quickly in rooftops, ten times faster than the market, and this year will be even stronger after the takeover of HatiCon." Mounting Systems acquired aluminum brand HatiCon from Norwegian aluminum giants Sapa in January.
Looking ahead, Mounting Systems senior U.K. manager Julian Moeller said that the outlook for the U.K. market for 2015 looked positive overall. "Mounting Systems has a strong and growing pipeline in sub-5 MW solar farms, and will shortly launch a new product portfolio to respond to developers and EPCs specific needs in that market," Moeller added.
"In larger rooftops and multi-residential installations, a boom this year would not surprise us, so we expect more overall market share gains in 2015 and 2016."
