Microgrids are finding compelling use cases in supplying power to islands. The Caribbean island of St. Eustatius now hosts a solar park and a diesel power plant, each with capacities of around 4 MW, and a 6 MWh battery. SMA provided the control system. Since commissioning in November 2017, 46% of the island’s energy demand has been met with solar power.
