Battery-anode material graphite is fraught with significant supply chain risk, as less than 10% of global supply is currently outside China. SCC55, made by Group14, is a stable silicon-carbon composite anode that can partly or wholly replace graphite in lithium battery anodes. pv magazine spoke to Grant Ray, Group14 vice president for global market strategy.
US-based Group14 has been on the expansion trail and has significantly built out its manufacturing infrastructure in Europe.
