Kaiser Permanente battles health care costs with PV

Share

With President Barack Obama's health care overhaul plans, Kaiser Permanente has decided to utilise photovoltaic systems to cut back its electricity costs. The decision to endeavor to generate ten percent of energy from solar is a first step to combat rising health care costs as Kaiser Permanente sees it.

One photovoltaic system was recently installed at the Santa Clara Medical Center in California. Kaiser Permanente aims to deploy approximately 15 megawatts of solar power systems on rooftops and other outdoor surfaces at 15 of its California facilities. The organization has roped in Recurrent Energy who will be in charge of the installations. Recurrent will own and operate the systems and turn over the Renewable Energy Credits earned to the organization.
