Germany: PV falls by 500 GWh year-over-year

Share

PV systems generated only 350 GWh of photovoltaic electricity in January, but climbed to 2.3 TWh in March, states the report on photovoltaic and wind generation in Germany. This output variation was partially compensated by wind and conventional power generation.

Photovoltaics and wind together produced a total of 3.9 TWh in February and 7 TWh in March. Overall, Germany exported a total of 16 TWh in the first quarter of 2013, according to data released by the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSOE). However, most of the electricity mix came from hard coal (6.7 TWh), Prof. Dr. Bruno Burger from Fraunhofer ISE told pv magazine.

Fraunhofer's report is based on data compiled from the German Federal Network Agency and the EEX Transparency Platform.

Meanwhile, on April 1, Germany's feed-in tariff declined to between € 0.110 and €0.159 (USD 0.141 and 0.204) per kWh, according to Fraunhofer.
