Gehrlicher becomes preferred solar supplier to US government

The U.S. subsidiary of German solar company Gehrlicher Solar has been lifted by the award of a five-year listing as an approved supplier to the U.S. federal government.

Gehrlicher Solar America Corporation has secured a general services administration (GSA) contract through to May 31, 2018 with options for a further three five-year extensions, the company announced on Monday.

The contract means Gehrlicher Solar products, available at pre-negotiated prices, terms and conditions, can be easily purchased by federal civilian and Department of Defense budgets without the need to undergo a bidding process.

In the press release announcing the contract award, Gehrlicher Solar America's chief operating officer Jerry Shinn cited "rooftops ground mounts and carports" as typical examples of the company's PV products.

News of the GSA contract award came on top of the recent attainment of the company's listing as a qualified energy services company (ESCO) by the U.S. Department of Energy, based on criteria such as proven energy savings from previous projects.
