Quality in procurement, installation, manufacturing, and O&M

How to mitigate the risk of modules experiencing LID, backsheet failure, or moisture ingress?

->Puede leer la versión en español aquí<-

Join pv magazine for its Quality Roundtable event at Intersolar South America in Sao Paulo.

pv magazine’s inaugural Quality Roundtable in Latin America will address a range of issues investors, installers and EPC’s active in the region will routinely be confronted with.

The first case takes a closer look at a solar farm which lost 16% of its performance within a year of installation. Gilberto Figueiredo of the University of Sao Paulo examined the case and reconstructed how this significant degradation could have come about.

A panel discussion of experts comprising Thiego Bello, Solar Area PE for Brazil and Uruguay, Enel Green Power Brazil, will be discussing how stakeholders in the LatAm utility-scale business and testing institutes see this case and what they would do to minimize risk.

The second case dwells upon the frequent occurrence of material weaknesses in backsheets. Statistics on the failure rates of different backsheet materials will inform the debate about possible risks. Furthermore, we will investigate the issue of light-induced degradation (LID) of mono PERC modules. Already, there are proven methods to avoid LID in these high-efficiency modules, but how can investors, EPCs, and installers surely determine that their supplier has made proper use of these methods? As market analysts expect a steep increase of mono PERC module sales in Latin America, over the next couple of years, this question will be a particularly important one to answer.

The second part of the Quality Roundtable will see a range of experts addressing the essential quality criteria of other system components, including cables, connectors, BoS, and inverters.
