Under the leadership of Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, Minister of Mines, Petroleum and Energy, the extractive and energy resources sector in Côte d'Ivoire is experiencing a dazzling boom, demonstrating its commitment to sustainable and prosperous development. Following the development of an integrated national policy on mineral and energy resources currently being validated, and reforms to the legislative and regulatory framework to further stimulate national and international investment, this dynamic has materialized through the design and initiation of a promotional platform for the potential of the Mines, Petroleum and Energy sectors, called the International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (SIREXE). This international exhibition, adopted by the Council of Ministers, is scheduled to be held from November 27 to December 2, 2024 in Abidjan.
Minister Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly officially announced it on Monday, April 22, 2024, at his office, during the official installation ceremony of the bodies and members of the SIREXE 2024 Organizing Committee. This structure is composed as follows:
– A Steering Committee;
– A General Commission assisted by a technical secretariat;
– A Scientific Committee;
– And an Operational Committee composed of 11 Technical commissions.
The First Head of Mines, Petroleum and Energy took the opportunity of this meeting to underline the interest of the President of the Republic and the Government, as well as his determination to guarantee the success of this promising exhibition, in order to further strengthen the positioning of the extractive and energy sector in the sub-region and in Africa.
This first edition of SIREXE, which will be held at the Parc des Expositions in Abidjan, will be an essential biennial event for national and international players in the sector. Projected under the theme ” Sustainable development of extractive and energy industries: what policy and strategy? “, this exhibition aims to stimulate private investment, promote regional and international partnerships, and ensure a better distribution of the wealth generated.
The program of the show will include the presentation of major national and sub-regional priority projects, accompanied by sessions dedicated to strengthening partnerships and mobilizing funding. Particular attention will also be paid to promoting local content and raising awareness among young people about professions in the sector's value chain.
SIREXE thus asserts itself as a major event for all stakeholders involved in the sustainable and responsible development of extractive and energy resources in Côte d'Ivoire and the region.
