European Commission agrees on €180/MWh cap for Russian gas

The European Commission has voted in favor of capping the price of gas imported from Russia. The measure was supported by Germany, with the Netherlands and Austria abstaining, and Hungary voting against it. The cap will be triggered if a price of €180 ($190.97)/MWh is surpassed for three days in a row.

European Commission reduces approval time for renewables to 9 months

Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have amended a European Commission proposal on approval times for new renewables projects. Approvals will be shortened from 12 months to nine for projects in so-called “renewable acceleration areas.”

Portugal offers remuneration boost to solar auction winners

The Portuguese government said in a new legal decree that it will adjust the prices, according to inflation, of winning bids from its record-breaking solar auctions in 2019 and 2020. It will also extend the period during which projects can sell electricity at spot market prices by 12 months.

Pakistani regulator to raise payments for net-metered households

Pakistan’s National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has concluded a public consultation on a proposed amendment to 2015 regulations for distributed generation and net metering. It will raise the price paid by net-metered households to inject excess electricity into the grid from PKR 19.32 ($0.089)/kWh to PKR 9/kWh.

EU proposes €0.18/kWh price cap on solar, wind
