These four utility-scale solar plants being sold to Canada-based BluEarth are part of Canadian Solar’s pipeline in Ontario. The pipeline consists of 29 projects equivalent to approximately 400 MW. The sales agreements for these four plants totaling 38.5 MW amounts to a value of over US$217.2 million. Canadian Solar states that according to its estimates the resale value of its entire Ontario project pipeline, once built into grid-connected solar power plants and sold to investors, will exceed $1.45 billion.

The four solar plants that are being sold to BluEarth will be located in Kawartha Lakes, Belleville, Beaverton and Napanee in Ontario, Canada. Canadian Solar will be providing the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for all four sites. When completed the four utility-scale power plants will generate enough electricity to power approximately 6,878 homes, and will provide emissions free energy to Ontarians over the 20-year operational period covered under the Ontario Power Authority contracts.

The plants will be equipped with about 186,000 Canadian Solar CS6X modules. The four sites are expected to generate more than 400 new jobs during the development and construction phases.

"BluEarth’s focus on promoting the responsible use of renewable resources is directly aligned with our goal of contributing to the growth of solar powered energy in Canada," said Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar.
