One of the largest storage facilities in wider Europe has come online. In the future, it will provide network services and help prevent power outages in the U.K., such as the one that occurred in August 2019.

The PV mounting system was developed by Germany-based Goldbeck and will initially be available in the Netherlands from 2022. The company will test the new technology in a 45 MW PV project.

The manufacturer plans to start production of the performance-enhanced solar modules in August. The first customers should then receive the products in October.
The procurement exercise’s final prices ranged between €0.0535 and €0.0789 per kWh. Furthermore, the German authorities revealed that the tender for ground-mounted PV concluded with an average price of €0.05 per kWh.
All segments grew strongly and, overall, the newly installed capacity increased by almost 50% compared to 2019. Photovoltaics was able to cover 4.7% of Switzerland’s electricity needs last year.
Up to eight battery modules from the Chinese manufacturer can be combined to form a storage system with a capacity of up to 25.6 kWh. According to Sungrow, it is not necessary to wire the battery modules.
