US: 100% of new generating capacity in July renewable

FERC figures reveal that last month renewable sources accounted for 100% of new generating capacity added to U.S. electricity grids. Solar accounted for 21 MW of the 405 MW of capacity added in July.

JinkoSolar to deliver 40 MW to Chile

Chinese module manufacturer JinkoSolar has announced that it will supply 40 MW of modules to solar developer 8i for a project in Chile. The project will be located in the Valparaiso region, in Central Chile.

Australian solar industry could decline by 40% to 50%

Meyer Burger increases sales, files half-year loss

Saudi PV LCOE between $70 and $90/MWh

Utility scale solar PV can achieve a LCOE of between USD$70 and $90/MWh in Saudi Arabia at present, according to French PV developer Solairedirect. This price is four times lower than it was in 2009, meaning PV electricity in the Kingdom could become the cheapest in the world.
