French state-owned railway operator SNCF plans to install 1.1 million square meters of solar modules at its train stations by 2030. Developers interested in its new solar carport tender have until April 15 to submit their project proposals.
Madagascar-based Filatex has invested €10 million in French flywheel storage system manufacturer Energiestro. The two companies are planning to deploy Energiestro’s flywheel storage solutions across Madagascar and Mauritius
One of France’s largest canal networks is set to host four PV systems totaling 12MW of generation capacity. The arrays are expected to occupy a total canal surface with a length of 5,420m and to generate a total of 19GWh per year.
The complex will combine a 50MW photovoltaic plant with 128MWh of long-term green hydrogen storage and batteries. The solar part is described by the company as an agrivoltaic plant that will host a herd of 1,830 sheep.
The tender was launched by local utility Cote d’Ivoire Energies. The 20 MW will be located on a water reservoir at the Kossou dam, in the center of Ivory Coast.
Solar was able to cover over 3% of France’s total electricity demand last year and its cumulative capacity reached 13,067MW at the end of December.
France has set a new target under which it will install 5GW of new PV capacity per year.
The Gondosolar project will be built at an altitude of over 2,000m and is expected to produce around 23.3 million kWh of electricity per year.
The French authorities have allocated 157MW of solar power in the country’s latest procurement exercise, with an average final price of €0.08312/kWh.
The feed-in tariff granted will still be reduced each quarter, in line with how much solar capacity was installed in the previous three-month period, but to a lower extent.
