Quebec-based pension fund La Caisse keeps investing in solar

After providing Canadian rooftop solar specialist Potentia Renewables with $83 million in May, Canada’s second-largest public pension fund has now agreed to finance U.S. solar installer Sunrun with $40 million.

Chile: Lowest bid in electric auction reaches $21.48/MWh

The bid was submitted by Enel Generación Chile, a subsidiary of Italian energy giant Enel. The second lowest bid was presented by GPG Solar Chile, a unit of Spanish company Gas Natural Fenosa. At the auction, 2,200 GWh will be allocated, successful bids will be publicly announced on November 3rd.

Enel wins Ethiopia’s 100 MW solar tender

The tender process was launched by Ethiopian power utility EPP in May 2016. The solar plant will be built in Metehara, around 200 km east of Addis Ababa.

Banco do Nordeste finances 482 MW of solar projects in Brazil

The Brazilian bank has agreed to finance three PV projects totaling 350 MW of the Italian energy giant Enel, and a 132 MW project under development by Norwegian companies Scatec Solar and a Statoil.

Oman to launch tender for more than 200 MW of solar by end of 2017

The tender, where capacity may even reach 500 MW, is part of the Oman government’s plan to diversify the country’s energy mix.
