Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are rapidly becoming essential components of the European energy transition. They support grid stability while enabling higher penetration of renewable energy. Understanding the ongoing market dynamics and changes as the roll-out continues is crucial for energy industry stakeholders.

In this pv magazine Webinar, we’ll examine how BESS is evolving to meet the unique challenges of European grid infrastructure while creating new opportunities for developers, utilities, and energy consumers. Expert speakers from our webinar initiative partner HyperStrong will provide a comprehensive overview of market trends and technical innovations that are shaping the future of energy storage in the EU.

Hamid Bardideh, Solution Manager at HyperStrong in Germany, will begin by analyzing the current BESS market landscape across key European regions. The session will explore how storage is creating value beyond traditional applications, with a particular focus on how BESS technologies are helping overcome grid-connected application challenges.

Dr. Stefano Alberici, VP Technology EMEA / Country Manager South Europe at HyperStrong, will then dive into the technical innovations enhancing BESS safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, including how AI-driven lifecycle management systems are optimizing performance while extending battery life, more on advanced thermal management, and deliver a preview of HyperStrong’s newest BESS platform designed for European applications.

Speakers

Solution Manager, HyperStrong International

Hamid Bardideh graduated with honors in electrical engineering at Politecnico di Milano. His master thesis at ABB was about a novel protection method in industry. During his first career at CESI, he consulted to global transmission system operators (TSOs). Then worked at Terna, Italian TSO, before moving to Belgium, where he led major EU renewable integration projects at EnergyVille. Later, in Germany, he was Power Management Technology Leader at Baker Hughes, leading microgrid and renewable projects. Currently, he is working with HyperStrong as Solution Manager.
