A total of two photovoltaic plants, worth 20 MW each, were installed in Tacna and Moquengua. Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited supplied the 147,338 photovoltaic modules. The project is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2012.

Spain-based Solarpack was awarded two PPAs in 2010 to develop, construct and operate two photovoltaic plants worth 40 MW in Peru. A total of USD$180 million is said to have been invested in them.

The company is further working on a 16 MW photovoltaic power plant in Mariscal Nieto province, near Ilo and Moquegua. If all goes to plan, it will be operational by 2014. A spokesperson for the company told pv magazine that the generated energy will be sold to SEIN, the Peruvian electrical system.

Meanwhile, T-Solar has said it will bring its two 20 MW Peruvian photovoltaic projects online soon. Development of the two plants began after the government in Lima awarded the company a 20-year PPA also in 2010.
