The 14th SNEC photovoltaic exhibition and conference held in Shanghai this week set the stage for the presentation of the most powerful solar panels on the global PV market. The Chinese pv magazine team was there and has reviewed of all of them.
JA Solar
Chinese manufacturer JA Solar unveiled what is thus far the world's biggest and most powerful panel with an 810 W model. Called Jumbo, the panel has quadruple layouts of 47 cells and dimensions of 2,220 by 1,757mm. This panel utilizes a triple-cut cell design with 11 busbars on 210mm wafers. JA puts the maximum power output at 800 W. The module is not yet in mass production.
JA Solar launched a new 525 W+ panel in May.
Tongwei
China's largest cell manufacturer, Tongwei, unveiled its G12 module series with a power output ranging from 760 to 780 W. The series is also based on a 210mm wafer and multi-busbar (MBB) technology. Measuring 2,357mm by 1,612mm, it weighs 39kg. With MBB technology, Tongwei said the panel would reduce BOS and LCOE for investors and operators. The G12 series is likewise not yet in mass production.
Trina
Trina Solar presented a 660 W version of the Devex module. Trina said the new product had the same features and specifications as the Vertex 600 W panels it launched in mid-July, but with systematic optimization. The panel is based on 210mm wafers, MBB technology and high-density interconnection.
Trina last month formed the 600 W+ Photovoltaic Open Innovation Ecological Alliance with the aim of producing the next level of ultra-powerful modules.
More panels
Overall, 20 module manufacturers launched new module products with a power output of over 500 W at SNEC. The list includes:
Jolywood, 615 W
Risen Solar, 615 W
JinkoSolar, 610 W
Suntech, 605 W
Haitai, 600 W
Talesun, 590 W
CSI, 590 W
Eging PV, 545 W
Longi, 540 W
Seraphim, 530 W

Solar
After reading this article. Tell me how does this help me,minimize the amount of panels on my home. And how is the Tesla power can be available to me.
Really not anything exciting. Just making panels bigger..
Good Day;
I would very much like to see a comparison based on output/square meter. and also a comparison showing output/$. These data would be of much value to me as a small scale integrator.
Of course, a panel producing 800W instead of maybe 500W is good for total number of panels.
But more interesting is the data I requests. Ican live with 12 insteda of 10 panels…
Nice
What should I consider before buying a panel. For domestic use eg. Shower and about ten bulbs/ lights
I would like to know what it can supply. And the price
Panel available in Maharashtra India
Are the panels simply getting larger or are efficiencies being built in as well. I’m aware of 22% and might have heard 27 % but is that as good as it is right now?
Amazing!
Great products but at what prices for my company as user of these panels in USA ?
Interested to import into Nigeria.

Hello
I hope this will pave way for having many small solar panels in an array. Big wattage ones will save space and materials.
Is it available in kerala
Send me price details
So sorry, but everyone I know no longer purchases ANY products with ANY connection in ANY way to communist China. Game time is over.
Hello
It’s a great product how can I get more information And the price?
How much does they go for? And what the voltage on them??? 12 w
or 24 w???
Very nice
Great Initiative from JA.
Global market is eagerly waiting for it’s commercial production.
What’s it’s voltage
There is a need to Popularize Watts to Square Metre Ratio. Implies the total Watts produced : total Top Surface Area of Solar Panel
Presently whats selling in India is 160 watts per Square Metre.
Merely increasing the surface and saying the watt output has increased is NOT GOOD.
When 810 w Panel available in India & Expected Prices ?
When 810 w panel available in India & Expected prices?
810wp but 3.8sqm. so the efficiency is only 21%. What is so special about that?
Amazing work guys i really love ur works..why don’t u extend ur protect in Africa
Nice
I like this
What the interest of this type of panels. Recently, there is no improvement in the efficiency of the cells, so Tiers 1 solar manufacturer just increase the surface of the panels. Even don’t know why it deserves an article. Also, how many people are needed to carry such big panels, and in which way can this panels be used? That would be useful information indeed.
Hi Nicolas,
we are planning to publish more articles on this topic over the next days that may help clarify your doubts, as well as those of the industry. The aspects you highlighted in your comment (logistics and unchanged efficiency) are very important. I think some time may be needed to understand if these bigger modules may significantly reduce the LCOE of large-scale PV.
Progress certainly being made in increasing wattage of panels & area containment.
While wafer size & panel dimensions feature, product data plate is necessary for developers& aggregators.
Amazing! What’s the price for the importation to Nigeria.
Great stride. What will it cost to get across to Nigeria
Although there are continuing improvements in solar panels, they are incremental, not revolutionary. These new “high power” panels sound more like a marketing gimmick than anything else. I am also dubious of any performance claims coming from a polycrystalline panel, whose per sq ft efficiency is lower than a mono-crystalline panel. You can identify mono-crystalline panels by a little diamond pattern between cells.
I will give you $10 if you call them modules and stop calling them panels.
