SoftBank, Acme Solar and Avada Energy have commissioned 360 MW, 200 MW and 60 MW, respectively. The remaining 880 MW, to be installed by Hero (300 MW), Azure (200 MW), SoftBank (200 MW) and ReNew Power (50 MW), is scheduled to be commissioned by March 2019.
When its full capacity is operational, the Bhadla Solar Park will become India’s largest fully commissioned PV project, with investment rising to Rs 10,000 crore (US$1.3 billion).
Spread over 4,500 hectares, the project, with a total capacity of 2,255 MW, is being developed across four phases.
In May 2017, a historic low tariff of Rs 2.44 ($0.033) per unit was secured for the 500 MW Bhadla Phase-III Solar Park, in an auction by Solar Energy Corporation of India.
Last week, solar energy developer and producer, Azure Power announced that it had achieved financial close for Rs 600 crore ($88 million) for its 200 MW plant at Bhadla.
With 20 projects totaling 1.5 GW of capacity in the pipeline, Rajasthan is aiming to increase its solar power generation to 3.8 GW by April 2019.
Currently, solar accounts for 10% to the state’s total power consumption. The goal is to reach 17% by 2021.
