Jordan's Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) has announced the award of another 50 MW of PV, to take the total commissioned in its second licencing round to 250 MW.
The Al Husainiyah Power Generation Company has secured a 20-year PPA for a project in the Ma'an governorate, with the electricity generated to be sold to Jordan‘s National Electricity Company.
The latest licence award, announced in a press release, is the fifth and final one awarded in the second round of the national programme, following a first round which commissioned 220 MW of PV from 13 projects.
Both rounds of projects have been commissioned using the kingdom‘s direct bidding system, under which developers submit proposals for solar energy projects direct to the authorities on a build, own operate basis.
