One of Europe’s oldest battery producers, Varta is entering the Australian residential battery storage market. Varta says that its wall-mounted pulse battery range, released in 2017, provide a solution that is easy to install and very compact.
Varta claims that the pulse units can be installed and operational in only 30 minutes. The pule 3 weighs 45kg, while the pulse 6 comes in at 65kg.
“The storage systems are compact and handy and yet of high quality,” said Gordon Clements, general manager residential at VARTA Storage in a statement. “The Australian market offers immense potential and holds great growth opportunities for us.”
Clements added that given Australia’s large and fast-growing residential PV installed base, that the opportunity for storage “is immense”.
Alongside a small footprint, Varta points to its ‘multi-stage safety concept’ as distinguishing its storage systems from an increasingly crowded field of rivals. The company says that it builds in safety mechanism at the cell, cell pack, and module level.
Beyond safety, Varta uses and open communication protocol. This allows the company's batteries to communicate with a wide range of smarthome devices.
Varta has an extremely long history in battery storage. The company has been active in developing battery chemistry for over 130 years. It provides batteries for a range of consumer products, including microbatteries.
For its stationary battery storage systems, Varta uses Asian-made battery cells. It assembles the batteries in Bavaria, in Germany's south.
