Agfa, Ferrbatt sign agreement for distribution of PV backsheets

Since its launch in April 2017 at the SNEC Exhibition in Shanghai, China, Agfa’s UNIQOAT backsheet film has enjoyed significant interest from the global PV solar module manufacturing industry.

To meet growing market demand, Belgium-based Agfa Materials has appointed Italy's Ferrbatt Srl as exclusive distributor in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region.

The backsheet consists of a single layer, which is markedly different to conventional multi-layer backsheets. It is an innovation that could well prove advantageous in the field, thanks to no inter-layer lamination, which reduces the delamination factor and high reflectivity, thus boosting module efficiency.

“Next to the strong reputation that Ferrbatt has established over the years with manufacturers of solar panels around the globe, their deep understanding of market needs regarding supply and service has led Agfa to partner with Ferrbatt,” said Cesar Campos, Business Manager of Agfa’s Functional Foils Business Unit.

In discussing the UNIQOAT technical features in a recent interview with pv magazine in December, Campos said, “UNIQOAT mono-backsheets have one single layer, and totally eliminates the risk of intra-backsheet delamination.”

Stefano Ferrante, General Manager of Ferrbatt, commented, “We are very pleased to have Agfa’s backsheet solutions included in our portfolio. UNIQOAT’s exceptional durability and contribution to higher power output bring benefit to both the owners and the manufacturers of solar panels, and thereby represent a highly relevant competitive value.”
