The company said it finished building 1.35 GW of mono-Si bifacial PERC cell production capacity in June, at a plant in Foshan, in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong.
It also completed an additional 2.65 GW of manufacturing capacity at a factory in Yiwu, Zhejiang province, later in the year.
For mono-Si bifacial PERC cells, the company currently claims a front-side conversion efficiency rate of more than 21.5% and roughly 15% on the back side. It estimates average light-induced degradation at less than 1.5% over 20 kWh of generation, according to an online statement.
The Foshan-based company is investing CNY 6 billion ($923.9 million) in 8 GW of mono-Si bifacial PERC cell production capacity at the Yiwu facility over the next five years, Taiwan’s DigiTimes reported.
In June, Aiko Solar agreed to collaborate with Germany’s Rena on the development of plating technology. The Gütenbach-based company has already provided more than 4 GW of wet chemistry tooling to Aiko Solar and has supplied its InCellPlate electroplating equipment for the Yiwu factory.
