The French steel manufacturer Arcelormittal announced that it will increase the production of its Magnelis coated steel, which is also used for the coating of mounting structures for solar plants, at its manufacturing facility in Alavés, Asturias, northern Spain.
The company, which also produces the coated steel in Belgium and Germany, said the capacity increase was mainly due to increasing demand from the solar industry.
The company claims its product has become the industry’s reference product for ground mounted structures, coating for solar structures and the product of choice in harsh outdoor and indoor environments.
The Spanish factory is producing thicknesses from 0.5 to 2 mm. The company said it has adapted its Galvanising Line no. 2. at the facility following best practice implementation and R&D product development. The product is manufactured on a classic hot dip galvanising line, but the molten bath has a unique chemical composition including zinc, 3.5% aluminium, and 3% magnesium.
